Educational Trip and Visits
Brecon Beacons
A group of Year 11 students went on a four day residential trip to the Brecon Beacons in south Wales. Various activities were undertaken including hill walking, caving, canoeing and canyoning. Taking in the beautiful scenery of the area, students worked together with staff to achieve their goals in facing new challenges.
Land Rover BAR
The Science Department organised a trip to visit the innovative Tech Deck Education Centre which is part of the British America's Cup challenge, led by Sir Ben Ainslie for Land Rover BAR. Students learnt about the materials used on the boat and sails, tested their strength on a 'grinder', drove a yacht on a virtual reality simulator and interacted with some of the latest materials used by the race team.
Zoolab
Each year, we ask Zoolab to come into The Bridge Education Centre to introduce students to various animals and species which they may not have chance to see at such close proximity in real life. Learning about how the animals and insects evolve and survive is always a popular lesson for our pupils.
Marwell Zoo
A trip to Marwell was undertaken jointly by the English and Religious Studies departments. Students discussed during the visit various topics such as Animal Rights and Evolution verses Creationism. Back in Centre pupils then delivered work related to their trip including persuasive writing pieces on Animal Welfare and further creative writing.
